Reasons for an email migration

By email migration we mean the transfer of all data (all emails and folders) in an email account to another email account. Example: Transfer of emails from the account john.doe@yahoo.com to john.doe@gmail.com.

Reasons for moving to another email provider are as various as reasons for moving to another place in real life. We distiguish among prviate and business users.

Reasons for private users

  • Switching the hosting provider due to pricing
  • Switching to a hosting provider offering better features
  • Webmail interface is not easy to use
  • Current email provider does not offer mobile access
  • Too much advertising place by current provider
  • Email storage is full
  • Switching to a professional email adress with an own internet domain (john@johndoe.com)
  • Account expiration: many mailboxes can be used for a limited time only. May it be at work or at university: the access to the according email account is typically blocked shortly after leaving the organization. Existing emails are typically lost in that case.

Reasons for business users
